Pyhä Bike Park

Pyhä Bike Park sits on one of Finland's most distinctive fells, Pyhätunturi, beside Pyhä-Luosto National Park. It is not an alpine resort with endless vertical metres, and that is part of the appeal. The riding is framed by Lapland forest, open fell views and rougher northern weather, so even a compact descent feels like a trip into a different Europe.

The park suits riders who like flow but do not want a sterile bike park. The surface moves between dirt, stones and roots; after rain the grip changes quickly, and the long summer light gives the day a very northern rhythm. Less experienced riders should begin on easier lines and treat the first lap as a terrain-reading run.

A good Pyhä day starts with checking lift operation and the current open-trail status. The resort base is compact, so riding, service breaks, food and a short walk toward the national park are easy to combine. If you are travelling with non-riders, Pyhä works better than many pure bike venues because the surroundings offer hiking, views and a strong Lapland feel.

Watch the weather and fatigue most of all. A northerly wind, wet roots and harder rocky sections can change the character of the trails within one afternoon. Helmet, protection, an extra layer and brake pads in good condition are sensible basics here, not overkill.
