General information
Finnish Lapland and the Far North are the Arctic face of Finland, with snow, forests, fells, reindeer, Sami culture, winter activities, summer light and long distances.
Trips and nature
The landscape is wide and quiet: forests, lakes, fells, rivers and tundra-like areas in the far north. Winter is magical but cold; summer brings midnight sun, mosquitoes and endless light.
Food and atmosphere
Rovaniemi is strongly linked with winter tourism, while Inari is important for Sami culture. Food includes reindeer, fish, berries, cloudberries, mushrooms, rye bread and warming stews.
Transport and stay
Rovaniemi, Kittilä and Ivalo have airports. A car, tours or local transfers are useful, and winter driving requires preparation and respect for conditions.
