La Bresse-Hohneck Bike Park

La Bresse-Hohneck is the largest mountain resort in the Vosges, and in summer its slopes become a bikepark with a distinctly French upland character. This is not the scale of the Mont Blanc Alps, but the mix of forest, granite slopes, wetter weather and broad ridge views gives the riding a different tone from dry southern resorts. Labellemontagne operates the area, so a visit feels like a classic ski-resort day translated into summer.

The park suits riders who want lift access, clear trail signage and room to raise difficulty gradually. La Bresse has a strong riding reputation and a trail character where flow quickly meets roots, braking bumps and changeable grip. On a first visit, start with easier options and leave the technical lines until you understand the local surface.

Its position between Lorraine, Alsace and the German border is a major advantage. Colmar or Mulhouse are close enough for a long day trip, while the Hohneck landscape rewards a full weekend. After riding, stay in La Bresse, drive the Route des Cretes or combine the bikepark with ridge walks and viewpoints.

The Vosges can be wet and misty even when the lowlands feel summery. Bring protection, rain clothing and some margin for brake-pad wear. If you arrive from warmer regions, do not underestimate fatigue from softer surfaces and long braking zones; speed control often matters more here than bravery.
