General information
Luxembourg City is compact but surprisingly layered, combining fortress history, European institutions, multilingual everyday life and dramatic valleys inside the city.
Trips and nature
The city is shaped by cliffs, bridges, the Alzette and Pétrusse valleys, parks and viewpoints. It feels much more vertical than many capitals of this size.
Food and atmosphere
The old quarters and casemates show Luxembourg’s fortress past, while EU institutions and international residents give the city a modern European character.
Transport and stay
Public transport in Luxembourg is free nationwide. The capital is easy by train, tram and bus, and a car is rarely needed in the city.
