General information
Trondheim, Trøndelag and Central Norway offer a calmer, historic and food-oriented side of the country. Trondheim is a university city with wooden houses, river views and strong medieval heritage.
Trips and nature
The region combines fjords, forests, farmland, islands and mountains. It is less dramatic than the west, but very pleasant for slower travel.
Food and atmosphere
Nidaros Cathedral is the cultural highlight, while Trøndelag is known for farm food, coastal traditions and local ingredients. Food includes seafood, lamb, cheeses, berries, beer and modern Nordic cuisine.
Transport and stay
Trondheim has an airport and rail links north and south. A car helps for coastal islands, rural Trøndelag and nature areas.
