General information
South West England combines coast, cliffs, beaches, moors, historic towns and postcard countryside. Cornwall and Devon bring the Atlantic, fishing harbours and wild landscapes, while Bath and the Cotswolds add elegance and village beauty.
Trips and nature
The region has some of England’s most attractive nature: Cornish cliffs, Dartmoor and Exmoor, Jurassic Coast, sandy beaches and soft Cotswold countryside. Summer is best for the coast, spring and autumn for walking.
Food and atmosphere
Bath is famous for Roman and Georgian heritage, Stonehenge and Avebury for prehistoric history, and Cornwall for Celtic identity and maritime legends. Food includes Cornish pasties, cream tea, cider, seafood and pub classics.
Transport and stay
Bath, Bristol, Exeter and Plymouth are well connected by train. A car is very useful for Cornwall, Dartmoor, Exmoor, villages and remote beaches.
