General information

Donegal, Sligo, Mayo and the north-west are wilder, quieter and less polished than Ireland’s busiest routes, with huge landscapes and strong Atlantic energy.

Trips and nature

The region offers cliffs, beaches, mountains, bogs, islands and surf spots. Slieve League, Achill and Benbulben are major scenic names.

Food and atmosphere

Traditional music, Gaelic culture, poetry, rural communities and coastal life shape the region. It feels far from the tourist treadmill, in the best way.

Transport and stay

A car is very useful because distances are long and public transport is limited. Weather can change quickly, because the Atlantic has opinions.
