General information
Burgenland and Lake Neusiedl are Austria’s sunny, flat and wine-oriented eastern region, with a very different mood from the Alps.
Trips and nature
Lake Neusiedl, reed beds, steppe-like landscapes, vineyards and bird areas make the region unique within Austria. It is excellent for cycling and slow summer travel.
Food and atmosphere
The region has Hungarian, Croatian and Austrian layers, plus castles, wine villages, festivals and thermal traditions.
Transport and stay
The area is reachable from Vienna, especially by car or train to main towns. A bike is often the best local companion.
