General information
Plovdiv and the Thracian Plain combine one of Bulgaria’s most beautiful cities with warm lowlands, wine areas, ancient sites and easy travel between Sofia and the coast.
Trips and nature
The region is flatter and warmer than the mountains, with fields, vineyards, river valleys and low hills around Plovdiv.
Food and atmosphere
Plovdiv has Roman, Ottoman, Revival and modern creative layers. The old town, amphitheatre, Kapana district and nearby monasteries make it especially rewarding.

Plovdiv is well connected by rail and road. A car helps for wineries, monasteries and smaller Thracian sites.
