General information
The Soča Valley and western Alps are one of Slovenia’s most spectacular outdoor regions, combining turquoise river scenery, rafting, hiking, waterfalls, mountain roads and wartime history.
Trips and nature
The Soča River is the star, with clear turquoise water, gorges, waterfalls and alpine views. The surrounding mountains offer hiking, cycling and adventure sports.
Food and atmosphere
Kobarid and the surrounding area carry strong World War I memory, while villages, mountain food and borderland influences add local character.
Transport and stay
A car is useful for the valley, passes and trailheads. In summer, outdoor activities and accommodation should be planned ahead.
