General information
Swedish Lapland, Kiruna and the Far North are Sweden’s Arctic region, with vast forests, mountains, reindeer, Sami culture, mining towns, winter darkness and summer midnight sun.
Trips and nature
The region is huge and sparsely populated. Abisko is famous for northern lights and mountain scenery, while the north offers wilderness, national parks, rivers and snow landscapes.
Food and atmosphere
Sami culture, reindeer herding, mining history and Arctic adaptation shape the region. Food includes reindeer, fish, berries, cloudberries, flatbread, coffee and warming stews.
Transport and stay
Distances are long. Kiruna and Luleå have air and rail links, but tours, local transport or a car are needed for many places. Winter travel requires preparation.
