General information
Oslo, the Oslofjord and South-Eastern Norway are the most practical entry point to the country. Oslo combines museums, waterfront architecture, neighbourhoods, forests and fjord life.
Trips and nature
The Oslofjord gives the city islands, swimming spots and boat trips, while the surrounding forests offer easy hiking, skiing and lake walks close to the centre.
Food and atmosphere
Oslo has the Opera House, Munch Museum, National Museum, Viking heritage, Akershus Fortress and a strong modern Nordic identity. Food includes seafood, waffles, coffee, open sandwiches and modern Nordic cooking.
Transport and stay
Oslo has the main airport, excellent rail links and good public transport. A car is not needed in the city, but helps for rural south-eastern Norway.
