General information
Gothenburg and the West Coast show Sweden from its maritime side. Gothenburg is relaxed, tram-filled and friendly, while the coast north and south of the city offers islands, cliffs, boats and fishing villages.
Trips and nature
The west coast is rocky, salty and full of small harbours. Bohuslän is especially beautiful, with granite islands, sea kayaking, swimming spots and summer villages.
Food and atmosphere
Gothenburg has museums, canals, food halls, music, cafés and a strong seafood culture. Coastal villages add maritime heritage and a slower island rhythm. Food means shrimp, fish, oysters, cinnamon buns, coffee and summer seafood plates.
Transport and stay
Gothenburg has an airport, trains, trams and ferries. A car helps for Bohuslän and smaller villages, but many islands are reached by public ferry.
