General information
Salzburg and the Salzkammergut are one of Austria’s most scenic and culturally familiar regions, mixing baroque urban beauty, music, lakes, mountains and postcard villages.
Trips and nature
The lake district is the star: clear lakes, limestone peaks, forests, meadows and steep village settings. Hallstatt is famous, beautiful and very busy.
Food and atmosphere
Salzburg is shaped by Mozart, archbishops, baroque architecture and festival culture. Salt mining, lake villages and old trade routes add depth beyond the city.
Transport and stay
Salzburg is well connected by train. Public transport works for some lakes and towns, but a car helps for smaller villages and scenic loops.
