General information
The Westfjords are one of Iceland’s most remote and least crowded regions. They are perfect for travellers who value silence, long views, rough roads and dramatic coastal scenery.
Trips and nature
Fjords, mountains, cliffs, waterfalls, beaches and bird colonies shape the region. Dynjandi and Látrabjarg are among the main highlights.
Food and atmosphere
Ísafjörður is the main town, with maritime heritage and a remote northern charm. Small villages and old fishing routes give the area a strong edge-of-the-map feeling.
Transport and stay
A car and time are essential. Roads can be slow, gravel sections are common, and winter or shoulder-season conditions require serious planning.
