General information
Bern, the Bernese Oberland and the Jungfrau Region are one of Switzerland’s most iconic areas. Bern is a calm capital with arcades and the Aare, while the Oberland brings lakes, waterfalls, villages and famous peaks.
Trips and nature
Lauterbrunnen, Grindelwald, Interlaken, Lake Thun, Lake Brienz and Jungfraujoch form a classic high Alpine landscape. Summer is for hiking and lakes, winter for skiing.
Food and atmosphere
Bern has a UNESCO-listed old town, while the Oberland is strongly linked to mountain tourism, wooden houses, alpinism and scenic railways. Food includes fondue, raclette, rösti, cheese, chocolate and mountain soups.
Transport and stay
The region is excellent by public transport. Trains, boats, cable cars and mountain railways connect very well, and a car is often unnecessary.
