General information
Brittany is France’s Celtic-flavoured Atlantic region, known for wild coasts, stone towns, islands, seafood, crêpes, maritime history and a strong regional identity.
Trips and nature
The region has rugged cliffs, beaches, tidal bays, islands, moors, forests, lighthouses and dramatic Atlantic weather. The coast is the main attraction, but the interior has quiet charm.
Food and atmosphere
Saint-Malo, Rennes, Quimper, Vannes, megaliths, fishing ports, Breton language and Celtic traditions give Brittany a very distinct feel within France.
Transport and stay
Rennes and larger towns are reachable by train, but a car is useful for coastal villages, peninsulas, islands, lighthouses and scattered beaches.
