Nicosia and inland Cyprus show the island beyond the beach image. The capital is historically layered, lively and politically sensitive.

The inland is dry and very hot in summer, so spring and autumn are the best times for city walks, museums and villages.

Nicosia brings together Greek Cypriot, Turkish Cypriot, Venetian, Ottoman and British layers. Food means meze, halloumi, grilled meats, coffee and sweets.
Transport and stay
Nicosia is well connected from Larnaca, Limassol and Paphos. It is best as a 1 to 2 day cultural addition to a coastal stay.
