General information
Småland, Öland and South-Eastern Sweden show a quieter, rural and family-friendly side of the country, with forests, lakes, farms, villages and Baltic coast.
Trips and nature
Småland is full of forests, lakes and small settlements, while Öland adds open landscapes, windmills, beaches and a distinct island feel.
Food and atmosphere
The region is linked with glassmaking, red wooden cottages, Astrid Lindgren, rural traditions and small towns. Food includes fish, berries, mushrooms, pastries, local cheese and simple Swedish home cooking.
Transport and stay
A car is very useful, as sights are spread out. Trains and buses connect larger towns, but rural Småland and Öland are easier with flexibility.
