General information
London and South East England are the most natural entry point to the United Kingdom. London is huge, expensive, diverse and culturally powerful, mixing royal history, world-class museums, theatres, markets, parks and neighbourhoods with very different identities.
Trips and nature
The region is surprisingly green. London has major parks, the Thames and canals, while the south east adds the white cliffs of Dover, Kent, gardens, countryside and seaside Brighton.
Food and atmosphere
London is one of Europe’s strongest cultural destinations, with the Tower of London, Westminster, British Museum, Tate Modern, Greenwich, Camden, Notting Hill and the West End. Oxford, Cambridge, Canterbury and Brighton add university, cathedral and seaside layers.
Transport and stay
London has several airports, a vast public transport system and excellent rail links. A car is unnecessary in the city but can help for countryside and coastal trips.
