General information
Dalarna and Central Sweden are often seen as one of the most “Swedish” regions, with red cottages, lakes, forests, folk traditions, midsummer celebrations and small towns.
Trips and nature
The landscape is full of lakes, forests, rolling hills and quiet countryside. Lake Siljan is the main scenic focus, while the surrounding forests are good for walking, cycling and winter activities.
Food and atmosphere
Dalarna is known for folk music, painted horses, midsummer traditions and old mining history around Falun. Food includes berries, mushrooms, fish, crispbread, cheeses and hearty rural dishes.
Transport and stay
Trains reach larger towns such as Falun and Mora, but a car is useful for villages, lakes, forests and scenic drives.
