General information
Prague and Central Bohemia are the classic starting point for Czechia. Prague brings grand architecture, neighbourhood life, cafés, galleries and nightlife, while the surrounding region adds castles, historic towns and river landscapes.
Trips and nature
The region is softer than the Czech mountains, with river valleys, forests, parks and gentle countryside. The Vltava, Berounka and Sázava areas are good for short escapes from Prague.
Food and atmosphere
Prague is one of Europe’s great historical cities, with medieval, Baroque, Jewish, Habsburg, modernist and communist-era layers. Kutná Hora, Karlštejn and Konopiště add strong day-trip appeal.
Transport and stay
Prague has the main airport, excellent public transport and strong rail links. A car is unnecessary in the city but useful for castles, villages and nature outside the main rail routes.
