MTB Zone Bikepark Geisskopf: a Bavarian classic with flow and downhill trails

Geisskopf is not a huge Alpine resort, and that is exactly its strength. Above Bischofsmais in the Bavarian Forest, a compact bikepark has grown where you can sample several riding styles in one day: smooth berms, more family-friendly lines, freeride sections and technical forest descents.

The area is also known for its flow-country approach, which helped popularise the idea of a continuous trail with rollers and berms in Germany. That does not make the whole mountain easy. The gentler lines can be playful and approachable, but speed, roots, braking bumps and the harder downhill tracks quickly show whether you really have the bike under control.

The park works well for riders who want many repeats and a focused technique day. The lift shortens the return to the top, the base is easy to understand and distances are not exhausting. Starting on a flowier trail is sensible even for stronger riders, because the forest surface changes after rain and some sections ride faster than they look on a map.

Geisskopf fits neatly into a Bavarian road trip or as a sporty detour from the Czech side of Sumava. You do not come for glacier panoramas, but for a solid trail day, German organisation and the advantage of being back in quiet Bavarian Forest villages soon after riding.
