LAAX and Flims feel less like a small fenced bike park and more like a full alpine riding area spread between villages, forest and high Graubünden scenery. A day can start with a lift from Laax or Flims and unfold into a long descent mixing shaped flow, rougher rocky sections and fast forest riding. The Runca Trail towards Flims is the signature experience, because it captures the local character: long, rhythmic, scenic and more varied than a simple jump line.
The area suits riders who want more than repeated laps under one chairlift. Marked MTB routes connect with the bikepark-style descents, so you can build anything from a half-day flow session to a full alpine tour with viewpoints, pastures and mountain restaurants. Newer riders should begin on easier lines and add distance gradually; experienced riders will appreciate the speed, stone, braking control and natural-feeling sections.
Check the live lift and trail status before committing to a plan, because snow, storms and trail maintenance matter at this altitude. Roots and rocks can be slick after rain, while dry weather makes the longer descents more physical than they look on the map. The practical base is strong, with rental, service, guiding and accommodation spread across Laax, Flims and Falera.
LAAX works best for riders who want to combine bikepark days with a broader mountain stay. Non-riders can use lakes, walks and viewpoints while the bike group uses lifts and the official trail network. For a one-day visit, choose the main zone around the lifts that are actually running; for a longer stay, mix flow trails, technical lines and longer tours beyond the core bikepark.
