Bikepark Lienz

Bikepark Lienz has a different mood from the big resorts of North Tyrol. It sits above the sunny town of Lienz, in the valley between the Hohe Tauern and the Lienz Dolomites, so even a short riding day feels distinctly alpine. The town's services are close, but the descents from Hochstein have enough gradient and space to feel like more than a city attraction.

In practice, it is a good place for riders who want a readable area without much searching: a few main lines, a clear return to the lift and a character that combines smoother sections with alpine technique.

Start a first visit calmly. East Tyrolean slopes can be steeper than they look from the valley, and repeated runs work arms hard. If you arrive with a family or mixed group, Lienz has the benefit of short distances: part of the day can be bike park, part town, swimming or a trip toward the Dolomites.

The main attention points are weather and brakes. The southern position can bring heat, dust and a harder surface; after storms, forest grip changes quickly. For faster descents, take pads and a bike ready for sustained braking.
